Committed to patient safety, Mr. Kiani is responsible for creating the Patient Safety Movement Foundation & Coalition and the World Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit with a goal to eliminate the more than 200,000 preventable patient deaths each year to ZERO by 2020. The Patient Safety Movement requests that attendees make a formal and public patient safety commitment and report on their progress annually. To date, 1,700 hospitals have made the commitment to zero preventable deaths and have reported over 24,643 lives saved annually. In addition, over 50 healthcare technology companies have signed a public Open Data Pledge to share the data their products are purchased for to promote patient safety.
