John Adabie Appiah

John (MD, FWACP, Cert Critical Care, MPhil, MSc) is a senior specialist, pediatric intensivist, and adjunct lecturer at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), respectively in Kumasi, Ghana. A graduate of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, KNUST. He completed his Residence at KATH and pursued a subspecialty at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, Cape Town.  He earned his MPhil in 2015 from UCT, South Africa. John was the Team lead of the COVID-19 Case Management at WHO AFRO and a Consultant Clinical Management Team, at WHO Geneva. Also, a board member of the World Federation Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care Societies, the International Pediatric Association, an Executive member of the Africa Sepsis Alliance, and the President of the Paediatric Society of Ghana. John is a member of the WHO rapid Guidance Development Group producing “Living Guidance”, COVID-19 Therapeutics Interim Clinical Management Guidance, and COVID-19 Chest Imaging Guidance. Dr. Appiah's research is interest focuses on sepsis and critical care training in resource-limited settings.
