Birgitta Gleeson
Speaker in Session 4
Birgitta is an expert in diagnostics - she leads the organisation's AMR portfolio at FIND Dx, focusing on the development and implementation of new diagnostics for low- and middle-income countries. In this role, she oversees technical guidance for the programme to ensure diagnostic solutions are accessible where they are needed most.
She brings over a decade of experience to this role, spanning her academic and postdoctoral research, as well as extensive fieldwork. This includes a two-year period with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, where she focused on implementing diagnostics and strengthening laboratory systems in low-resource settings. This blend of research and hands-on work directly informs her work. She holds a PhD in Medicine, an MSc in Immunology and Global Health, and a BSc in Microbiology.
