Alegnta is an emergency medicine physician and a dynamic professional, currently practicing health diplomacy at the Permanent Mission of Ethiopia to the UN Office in Geneva.
She is a former coordinator of the Africa group in Geneva with significant contributions in international instruments in health, negotiating several resolutions, and playing a crucial role in advancing regional interest in the health multilateral fora.
Before her role, she served in various leadership capacities as a policymaker, clinician, educator, and quality improvement lead.
Alegnta has been a strong advocate of the acute care continuum, resilient health systems, and impact in countries throughout her career and continues to bring visionary leadership and a unique perspective in multilateral discussions in health.
