Zahra Hoodbhoy

Zahra is a physician trained at The Aga Khan University (AKU), Karachi, Pakistan. She then pursued her Master’s in Health Education from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, and completed her PhD (Population and Public Health) program at AKU. After working in the US and Singapore, she returned to AKU in 2014 and is currently employed as an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, AKU.
She has been involved in public health research for nearly a decade, with experience in implementing hospital and community-based projects around the use of digital health, point-of-care technology, and artificial intelligence for risk stratification to improve maternal and child health indicators in low-resource settings.
Her research portfolio consists of grants from the Gates Foundation, the Islamic Development Bank’s Transform Fund, and the University of North Carolina, to name a few. She was recently named among one of the ten global Goalkeeper Champions working in the area of maternal nutrition by the Gates Foundation.
