Antigone Kotsaki

Antigoni, MD, MSc, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.  She holds an MSc in Clinical Pharmacology and a PhD in Genomic Polymorphism in Sepsis.

Her main research fields and contributions include Sepsis, Personalized Immunotherapy, Infectious Diseases, Immunology, Hidradenitis Suppurativa, and Clinical Trial Conduct and Design.  She has authored over 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals with 5629 citations and an h-index of 29.

She was awarded the first prize, “Sotirios Papastamatis,” in 2025 for her research on precision immunotherapy in sepsis.

She has significantly contributed to numerous international clinical trials, including the SAVE-MORE trial (NCT04680949) that led to urgent Emergency Use Authorization of Anakinra by the FDA and of registration of Anakinra by EMA for COVID-19 pneumonia, and the ImmunoSep trial (NCT04990232), a personalized immunotherapy trial in sepsis, harvesting positive results.

She currently serves as Chief Scientific Officer at the Hellenic Institute for the Study of Sepsis (https://sepsis.gr) and Councillor for the European Shock Society.
