Eleanor Molloy

Eleanor is Professor and Chair of Paediatrics and Child Health at Trinity College Dublin and a consultant paediatrician and neonatologist at Children’s Health Ireland and the Coombe Hospital. She graduated in Medicine from University College Cork and completed her PhD at University College Dublin. Her research focuses on interdisciplinary child health and advancing translational approaches to improve outcomes for children. She co-directs the Trinity Research in Childhood Centre (TRICC), which brings together over 100 principal investigators.
She is co-lead of In4Kids, Ireland’s national paediatric clinical trials network, supporting access to research for children. Her translational laboratory work explores immune responses in newborns with brain injury and sepsis, aiming to improve long-term outcomes.
Eleanor has held leading international roles, including President of the Irish American Paediatric Society and the European Board of Paediatrics, and has contributed to several major research organisations. She has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers and supervised more than 20 doctoral students. Her work emphasizes collaboration, standardised definitions in neonatal research, and developing long-term, family-centred care pathways for children affected by complex conditions.
