Afrah Thabet

Afrah joined UNFPA’s Yemen Country Office in 2005 as a Reproductive Health Specialist and humanitarian professional. In addition to her extensive work in Yemen, Afrah has gained significant emergency humanitarian experience through assignments in Iraq, Libya, and Lebanon. She also completed a detailed assignment with the Arab States Regional Office (ASRO) as a Sexual and Reproductive Health Specialist and Humanitarian Coordinator. Most recently, in 2024, she completed a surge assignment in Gaza during the crisis, serving as a Sexual and Reproductive Health Specialist.

Before joining UNFPA, Afrah worked with UNICEF and a non-governmental organization supported by the International Planned Parenthood Federation. She holds a Medical Doctorate as an Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist, a High Diploma in Early Childhood Development, a Diploma in Humanitarian Settings, and a Diploma in Social Sciences from the University of Costa Rica.

Currently, she continues supporting the Yemen CO UNFPA as an SRH specialist.
