Mercedes Bonet

Mercedes is a perinatal health epidemiologist based in the Department of Reproductive Health and Research at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. She has extensive experience in global health, with a particular interest in improving the health and well-being of women and newborns through research on healthcare in the continuum of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. At WHO she leads normative research work on the prevention and management of maternal infections, intrapartum, and postnatal care. She led a global study to assess the burden and management of potential severe maternal infections and sepsis in healthcare facilities, and WHO’s evidence synthesis and normative work on COVID-19 and pregnancy.
