Eirini Christaki

Eirini is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ioannina. Her research work has focused on the role of innate immune cells in sepsis, as well as the activity of immunomodulatory agents in experimental bacterial sepsis. She has also been a sub-investigator in international Clinical Trials involving the use of novel antimicrobials in the treatment of severe bacterial infections. More recently, her research interests include the role of a personalized approach in the management of sepsis, healthcare-associated infections, host-pathogen interactions, immunology of Infectious Diseases, and COVID-19. She has published in peer-reviewed medical journals and conference proceedings and contributed chapters in medical textbooks. Since February 2020, she has been actively involved in the management of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic in Cyprus and Greece, both at a clinical level and by being a member of the Advisory Scientific Committee to the Cyprus Ministry of Health.
