Elisa Estenssoro

Elisa has been the Director of the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Interzonal San Martin de La Plata, the largest hospital in the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since the beginning of the pandemic has acted in the Group of Experts in COVID-19 of the provincial Ministry of Health Prov of Buenos Aires. She has worked extensively in clinical epidemiology and outcome research in ARDS, Pandemic Influenza H1N1, sepsis, and COVID-19 in mechanically ventilated patients, designing and leading the four national epidemiological studies on the mentioned subjects. Prof. Estenssoro is a member of the Latin-American Intensive Care Network (LIVEN) and co-authors of the ANDROMEDA STUDY, about resuscitation in septic shock, apart from studies of organizational issues and human resources in Latin-American ICUs.

She was President of the Sociedad Argentina de Terapia Intensiva (SATI)(2009-2010) and a member of the Board of the World Federation of Intensive and Critical Care (WFICC) (2016-2020).
