Robert Fowler is a Staff Physician at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Senior Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute, Associate Professor Department of Medicine and Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care Medicine, and Director of the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation Clinical Epidemiology & Health Care Research Program, the University of Toronto and Adjunct Scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences. Dr. Fowler is a Clinician Scientist of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a long-standing and executive member of the Canadian Critical Care Trials Group with over a decade of experience leading peer-funded multicentre and international clinical studies of infections in critically ill patients. He is a current consultant to the World Health Organization, aiding international research efforts in infection-related critical illness. His expertise is in epidemiology and clinical outcomes for critically ill patients, infection-related critical illness and global infectious disease outbreaks and end-of-life care of serious ill and elderly patients.
