Joachim Mueller-Jung

Joachim was born in Heidelberg on March 10, 1964. After graduating from the Wirtschaftsgymnasium Wiesloch and taking his first steps as a freelance journalist, he began studying biology in Heidelberg, which he continued in Cologne and completed with a thesis on the reptile fauna of Madagascar after an extended research stay in the island's primeval forests. Parallel to his studies, he pushed his scientific journalistic reporting for agencies, magazines, and especially as a freelancer for the "Kölnische Rundschau". There he began a two-year traineeship in 1993. In April 1995, he joined the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as an editor for the "Nature and Science" department. In February 2003, he took over as head of the department.
