Ken Rothfield

Ken is Chief Medical Officer at Texas Health Resources Arlington Memorial Hospital. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer at HCA's Medical City Dallas, as well as with Ascension as System Vice President, and Chief Medical & Quality Officer at Saint Vincent’s Healthcare in Jacksonville, Florida. Other positions include Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as cardiac anesthesia faculty appointments at both the University of Maryland and the University of Pittsburgh.

Ken received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College, a medical degree from the University of Rochester, and an MBA from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. He completed his training in anesthesiology, as well as a fellowship in cardiovascular anesthesia and research, at the University of Pittsburgh.

Ken is nationally recognized for his work in quality and patient safety, including emergency airway management, opioid safety, physiologic monitoring, and healthcare culture. Additionally, he is a faculty member of the Institute for Healthcare Communication and is a master trainer in the disclosure and resolution of unanticipated medical outcomes

Ken is the recipient of a Healthcare Heroes Award from the Baltimore Daily Record, as well as a Circle of Honor Award for Innovation in Patient Safety from the Maryland Patient Safety Center.
